Sitamarhi

SITAMARHI - Sitamarhi is a town and the district headquarters of Sitamarhi district, Mithila, India. It is a part of the Tirhut Division (Tirhut). Sitamarhi has suffered natural disasters, including excess flooding. The town was almost completely destroyed in the year 1934 Nepal–Bihar earthquake.

Sitamarhi is considered by Hindus to be the birthplace of the goddess Sita. It has been a major site for Rama Navami celebrations every year, with a large fair held to mark the occasion.
